Bibbulmun Hike 2003
On the 12th of July, 20 CYM members set off from the Hills Forest Center in
Kalamunda and walked an 11km section of the Bibbulmun Track to the Helena
Campsite and back again to the Hills Forest Center. Unfortunately, due to the
cold weather, no one had planned to stay the night but the group still
enjoyed lunch and fantastic views from the campsite in the bushland while
still close enough to the city to hear the football results on a portable
radio. After a one and a half hour rest and lunch at Helena Campsite, the
group started to walk back to Hills Forest Center hoping to be back in time
before sundown. Fortunately the group made it back with plenty of time but
a few people had sore legs after the brisk 22km hike. The attention now turns
to next years hike and what possibilites lie there.
