The Ukrainian Youth Association of Canada (UYA) congratulates and welcomes Eugene Czolij as the newly elected President of the Ukrainian World Congress. Eugene Czolij was elected by delegates to the IX World Congress of Ukrainians which took place in Kyiv, Ukraine on August 20-22, under the motto “Ukraine remembers – the World Acknowledges.”
He is joined on the UWC Executive by Yaroslava Khortyaniy (Hungary) - 1st Vice President, Mary Szkambara (Canada) - 2nd Vice President, Stefan Romaniw (Australia) - Secretary General, Tamara Denysenko (USA) - Finance and Bohdan Pahuta (Canada) – Treasurer.
Eugene Czolij served in a number of leadership positions including President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, President of the Ukrainian Youth Association’s World Executive as well Canada’s National Executive in addition to being a member of the local UYA Montreal Branch to this day.
Awards received by Eugene Czolij include the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal, the Order of Merit of Ukraine, the Shevchenko Medal from the Ukrainian Canadian Congress as well as the highest award of the Ukrainian Youth Association ‘Druzhynnyk-Vytiaz’.
The National Executive of the UYA of Canada wishes Eugene and the entire UWC Executive all the best in its endeavours benefitting the Ukrainian diaspora.
