Festival of Carols
For the Calgary Ukrainian community, the Christmas/New Year Season begins with the Festival of Carols. This year’s Festival took place on the first Sunday of
December in the church auditorium of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish. The participation of our sumivtsi in this Festival has become a tradition,
with this year being extra special, but let us not get ahead of ourselves and proceed in order of the program.More

Commemoration
The final week of commemorating the 75th Anniversay of the Holodomor 1932-1933 in Ukraine was filled with
various activities for the Ukrainian community of Calgary, and especially for our sumivtsi.

Sviato Mychaila
In November we celebrate the Patron Saint of the Ukrainian Youth Association, and of all sumivtsi around
the world, St. Archangel Michael. CYM Calgary marked this Feast with a formal gathering in our uniforms

Colonel, Commander-in-Chief of the "Sichovi Stril'tsi" corps of the Ukrainian Army,
founder and leader of the revolutionary liberation organization Ukrainian Military
Organization (UVO), leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists was murdered
in the streets of Rotterdam, Holland by an NKVD agent of the Soviet Union.
